Neuromodulators, or often known as their brand name counterparts- BOTOX® and XEOMIN® are what is known as a wrinkle relaxer or softener. They are used to soften lines created by repetitive motions, and can give a ‘lift’ if placed in muscles that pull downward. This can have a dramatic effect in preventing future wrinkles in unwanted areas as well as decrease existing lines. Botulinum toxin safety profiles are well researched in the medical community and the use of this versatile product is vast including but not limited to decrease in sweat, less redness and flushing, and smaller pores.

Onset can be from 2-7 days to start seeing effects, and about 2 weeks to see the maximum effect. The effects last about 3-4 months on average. This can differ depending on the dosing, area and the individual. With repeat dosing the effects often last longer than 4 months, and may only need touchups.

There is no way to get around it being a needle poke! However it is given using an extremely small needle and most people tend to find it only mildly uncomfortable. I offer several modes of pain distractors and pre-treatment if needed.

I generally ask for a 2 week follow up either virtually or in person, your choice. This is to make sure I have achieved what we discussed during the treatment, and address any issues or questions that you may have. After care instructions will be given to you at the appointment, but there is minimal downtime post procedure.
